I can't get the engine to build rpm's above 6,200 or so, which is not even close to where this engine is rated for full throttle; and even at that rpm setting, the throttle response is sluggish. I am running the green 'Cool Power' fuel, which supposedly has the right amount of nitro-methane and lubricants. This engine has no choke and only one idle adjust (the Surpass II was designed to be used solely with a starter). ![]() I have been adjusting the fuel mixture using a tachometer, and it has only led to frustration. It seems to be running rich, but I can't lean it out any more without it dropping in rpm's, which is a sign of being too lean. I have checked the throttle throws, and they are right on, wide open on the stick is wide open at the carb. It currently has a 14x7 three bladed prop mounted, which came with the plane. A 14x7 prop is listed in the manual, but not the three-bladed (the manual seems to make a distinction by listing 'three-bladed' in parenthesis by specific props). Could this prop be the source of the grief? Am I missing something somewhere else? Any help will be appreciated! I do not know what kind of load the 3-blade is so try an APC 14x6 as your engine should turn it 10,000 rpm. If not then you know you have a problem.
